5 year-old boy Weak in Learning, Problem in paying attention and quite restless. Took 40 sessions of Fast ForWord and 24 sessions of REVAMP.
Background:
Parents’ main concern was his communications skills and emotional regulation. He spoke in few words only and could not construct a sentence properly. He was not diagnosed but has problem in paying attention and quite restless. He was unable to copy as well.
Parents’ concerns:
-Speech and language skills, emotional regulation, attention, learning and reading comprehension.
Sessions of program:
1 course of REVAMP – 24 sessions
1 course of FFW – 40 sessions
Results:
1. After REVAMP
MABC (Motor Coordination test) improved from < 1% to 13%
Combined VMI (Visual Motor Integration) improved from 58% to 73%
Visual-Perception improved from 0.02% to 73%
Motor-Coordination improved from 2% to 18%
BBCS (Brackens Basic Concept Scale) improved from invalid to 39%
SRC (School Readiness Composite) improved from 75% to 93%
TVPS (Test of Visual-Perceptual Skills) improved from invalid scores to 68%
Handwriting Skills – Pencil Grasp improved from insufficient pencil grasp to pinch grasp
- Print pressure improved from light print to slightly increased
- He was unable to copy but now able to copy although the alignment,
spacing and sizing are still poor
2. After FastForWord
TAPS (Test of Auditory-Perceptual Skills)
– Number Memory (Digits Reversed) improved from 16% (<4 years) to 42% (4 years 4 months)
– Interpretation of Directions improved from 13% to 32%
Clinical Observations:
Speech and language skills have improved – able to speak in sentences now and able to follow instructions better
Improvement in attention, learning and emotional regulation
