A-VAMS™ stands for APPLYING VISUAL, AUDITORY, MOTOR and SOCIAL SKILLS.

Once the foundational learning skills are well-established, programmes such as A-VAMS™ may be recommended to help the student strengthen and apply the skills in a small group setting. It is important to ensure that the skills achieved are maintained and improved upon by using and applying them. This is similar to a child who has just learnt to ride a bicycle. While he may have learnt a new skill, he may not be able to ride smoothly and with refined control. If his newly attained skills are to become smooth, automatic and fast, he will need to continue practising for awhile more. Each one-hour A-VAMS™ class will include age-appropriate movement activities as well as table-top exercises and worksheets. Working with a small group of no more than 6 appropriately-matched children, we aim to integrate and challenge different parts of the learning systems. A-VAMS helps children, ages 4-16 years old, with the following:

  • Attention and alertness sensory systems - essential for overall learning

  • Motor planning - essential for posture, handwriting and PE class

  • Visualisation and memory - essential for subjects like Mathematics

  • Attentive listening - essential for comprehension and good listening skills

  • Verbalisation of ideas - essential for language development

  • Speed of processing - essential for information processing

  • Thinking and problem solving - essential for finding solutions to questions

  • Social skills - essential for forming friendships

  • Self-esteem - essential for motivation and positive thinking

If your child has attended the Learning Skills Evaluation or completed the individualised programmes of REVAMP®, Fast ForWord® and/or Play Attention®, he/she may be recommended by your Programme Consultant for the A-VAMS™ Class. Do bear in mind that while A-VAMS™ is excellent in strengthening the brains existing networks, more intensive and individualised programmes may be first recommended to establish new brain connections and vital foundational skills before strengthening can take place effectively.
